Bill Blacklaw
Singing Hills Stable Owner

For the past 35 years, Bill and Barbara Blacklaw’s Singing Hills Stable has been established as one of the country’s premier breeding and showing establishments.

Established in 1968, Singing Hills started with a five-gaited mare, a road horse and a four stall barn. From that humble beginning, Singing Hills has grown to a 55 stall barn and approximately 50 horses.

The ideal combination of people, setting and abilities has made Singing Hills an enduring strength for the American Saddle Horse in the Northwest. Located just outside Portland in the spacious and beautiful rolling hills of Oregon City, Singing Hills is a showplace in its own right.

Over the years, Singing Hills has stood many breeding stallions. Among them, Prim Style, Supreme Rights, Diana’s King Genius, Plainview’s Commander, Summertime Colors, Wing’s Desirable, Mr. Wonderful and Red Oak’s Sensation. We are proud to introduce to you our new breeding stallion, Dorian Warriors Song, a South African bred American Saddlebred.

Singing Hills has bred, sold and shown many World Champions over these many years.

In May of 2002, the Blacklaws welcomed their new trainers, Gene and Annalize van der Walt from Swellendam, South Africa. This new partnership has been highly successful to say the least. Gene and Annalize are a focused, competent team, bringing with them talent, experience and a true love for the horses.

Sadly Barbara Blacklaw passed away on January 26, 2007. Her untimely passing and absence is surely missed in the barn.

The Van der Walt's took over Singing Hills Stable on January 1, 2008, operating under Singing Hills Training and Boarding with Bill Blacklaw still actively involved with his own string of broodmares and young stock.
