We’re moving from Oregon City to Shelbyville!
There’s a lot of buzz and excitement going on at Singing Hills at this time. Bill, Gene and Annalize purchased a 21 acre farm jointly in a partnership in the “Saddlebred Capitol of the World” — Shelbyville, Kentucky. This barn is located on Taylorsville Rd about 1 ¼ mile from I 64 in the heart of Saddlehorse country. At this time the barn and farm in Shelbyville is undergoing renovations and remodeling which hopefully will be done by end of April.
The original barn consisted of 20 stalls with indoor arena that will be enlarged to 32 stalls (which would include a 12 stall broodmare barn) and a bullpen with a state of the art reproduction lab to accommodate our breeding operation as well. Singing Hills will be moving all the show horses as well as the broodmares to Kentucky. The plan is to foal the mares out in KY and then ship weanlings to OR to be raised there and then return with the yearlings every year back to KY. This move will allow both farms to utilize its pastures better as we were running out of stalls and pasture in OR. This will also allow us to be better located from a show and marketing point of view.
We hope to include Singing Hills, KY on our website as soon as we can get our hands on some good pictures this spring !
This new development will also mean that Gene and Annalize will move to Kentucky permanently to take care of all breeding and training duties there. Thus far all our clients have agreed to make the trip over east with us and we are all looking forward to an exciting year there!
Gene & Annalize will fly back to Oregon three to four times a year to do inoculations and pasture rotations for Bill and to generally check up on the young stock and retired horses.
Keith Nelsen will continue to lease stalls from Singing Hills in OR from where he has been operating Keith Nelsen Stables for the last 2 ½ years . This is a HUGE move and we are still trying to figure out the logistics of all of it! We are shooting for doing the move between mid to end April this year.
Our first show will be the Mount Hood horse show in Boring, OR and probably the last before we go on the road.
Congratulations to Karen Kronman and Absolutely Robust for earning his CH status! This old horse is a grand show horse and has been a star for everybody at Singing Hills! Congratulations to Bill who purchased a very exciting green 2 yr old from George Nash in Harrodsburg, KY. This colt is by” I’m a New Yorker” and out of the dam of the sensational harness mare “The Davinci Code”. This makes him a ¾ brother to” DavInci Code” !
Last but not the least – a special thanks to all our customers for being supportive and understanding in this new venture– you guys are the best and we appreciate your backing!
